Contextstudy konzentriert sich auf die Künste und die Kunstwissenschaften. Hier werden die Künste und die Kunstwissenschaften in ihren Kontext, in ihre Kontexte gestellt. Anhand der Untersuchung künstlerischer, theoretischer und historischer Produktionen sollen der Begriff, das Konzept und die wirksamen Operationen des „catch-all term“ Kontext geschärft werden. By examining artistic, theoretical and historical productions, the term, the concept and the operations of the „catch-all term“ context will be sharpened.
Anliegen von contextstudy ist, unsere künstlerischen, theoretischen und historischen Untersuchungsgegenstände wie auch unsere epistemischen Rahmungen – und nicht zuletzt auch uns Wissenschaftler*innen in dem Kontext unter anderem von Institutionen, Methoden und Medien zu begreifen. The aim of contextstudy is to understand our artistic, theoretical and historical objects of investigation as well as our epistemic framings – and not least ourselves as scientists – in the context of institutions, methods and media, among other things.
Damit wird von ökologisierenden, nämlich kontext- beziehungsweise umweltgebundenen oder auch umweltlichen Relationalitäten ausgegangen. This assumes ecologizing, namely context- or environment-bound or environmental relationalities.
Bei der vorangenommenen und vorausgesetzten Text_Kontext-Differenz handelt es sich um einen explizit relationalen Ansatz, mit dem ein In-Beziehung-Setzen stattfindet. Dies umfasst auch die epistemische Praxis und mit ihr wiederum auch ihre beziehungsweise unsere Verantwortung im forschungspolitischen Handeln. The assumed text_context difference is an explicitly relational approach with which an interrelating takes place. This also includes epistemic practice and, in turn, its or our responsibility in research policy action.
Dieser relationale Ansatz findet transitiv (die Systeme durchlaufend) und transversal (quer die Systeme durchziehend) statt und wird dadurch auch zu einem Sich-In-Beziehung-Setzen. This relational approach takes place transitively (running through the systems) and transversally (running through the systems transversely) and thus also becomes a setting-in-relation.
Contextstudy praktiziert damit einen ökologisierenden Blick, der wiederum eine Wissenschaftsethik von Alterität und Differenz herstellt. Contextstudy thus practices an ecologizing view, which in turn creates a scientific ethics of alterity and difference.
